Flood Watch Issued For Much Of Massachusetts

Much of the state has been issued a flood watch starting on Wednesday evening and continuing Thursday.

MASSACHSUETTS—Dig your high-water slacks out of the closet. We've got some precipitation coming.

A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for much of Massachusetts and is in effect from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, to Thursday, April 7, at 2 p.m.

The areas affected include Middlesex, Worcester, Barnstable, Dukes, Essex, Suffolk, Plymouth, Norfolk, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Nantucket and Bristol counties.

This low pressure system brings in a round of soaking rainfall to southern New England during Thursday into Thursday evening, with the potential for 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall.

According to NWS, the recent rainfall has caused significant rises in area rivers and streams. The rainfall during Thursday will bring the threat for areas of minor river and stream flooding.
