The Library received more than 220 donations in four hours on Saturday, March 13, bolstering the 2021 Book Sale stock by more than 1,000 items.
The Library and Foundation redesigned the Book Sale, one of its biggest annual fundraisers, to comply with guidance designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Book donations and sales help fund many Library programs, including museum passes, arts and crafts and the Sara Sherman NOW Lab makerspace

“We were overwhelmed by the outpouring from the community,” Library Director Esmé Green said. “Thank you to our Book Sale chairs Megan Kelley and Jean Nam for all of their work. And thank you to our wonderful staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make this new event a success.”
All accepted items have been quarantined for at least 72 hours, in accordance with current library practice.
Online sales will begin soon. Watch the Library website here for 2021 Book Sale updates and a link to the online store.
A series of “pop-up” sales will begin in the summer. Books also will be sold in the library once it reopens for regular hours. The library anticipates a return to limited in-person hours during the week of April 6. Learn more about the reopening here.
