Help Create A Pollinator Meadow At Wolbach Farm

SVT is hosting two workdays to complete the new pollinator meadow.

SUDBURY, MA—Sudbury Valley Trustees wants the public's help in creating a pollinator meadow at its headquarters at Wolbach Farm in Sudbury.

In 2016, SVT began Places for Pollinators, an initiative to improve monarch butterfly and other native pollinator habitat along the Sudbury River. SVT is now expanding the pollinator garden plots at Wolbach to create a larger pollinator meadow. To prepare for planting this fall, a large plot of grass was covered with plastic to kill existing vegetation, said the announcement.

SVT is hosting two workdays to complete the new pollinator meadow. Volunteers learn about using plastic to solarize weeds, managing pests, installing deer fencing, and planting seeds and seedlings. On Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers will be removing plastic and installing fencing, and on Monday, Oct. 1, 1-3 p.m., volunteers will be planting of new plants and seeds. Youth volunteers ages 13 and older are welcome. To register, visit www.svtweb.org/calendar or contact Trevor Nelson at 978-443-5588 X137.
