Leon Zola, Medic With 2nd General Hospital of U.S. Army, Dies at 84
Services are this week.

SUDBURY, MA — Leon I. Zola of Sudbury died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital following a brief illness.
He was 84 and the husband of the late Marian R. "Midge" (Pellegatti) Zola who preceded him in death June 5, 2012. Born in Boston June 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Edward and Frances (Mendelov) Zola.
Mr. Zola was a Medic with the 2nd General Hospital of the United States Army and served overseas during the era of the Korean War. Afterwards he attended and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He became employed for seven years as a representative of Abbott Laboratories prior to owning and operating the Sudbury Pharmacy for twenty-five years. He later was employed by CVS in Holliston until his retirement, after which he continued to be involved in the pharmaceutical industry until the death of his wife, Midge.
Over the years Mr. Zola was active in community affairs serving as Chairman of the Sudbury Industrial Development Commission, Chairman of Sudbury Review Board; member of the Sudbury Finance Committee and member of the Route 20 Study Committee. He was one of the founders of Sudbury Youth Hockey and the Buddy Dog Humane Society. He was also instrumental in founding the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Football and Lacrosse programs and was a former member and past president of Sudbury Kiwanis Club.
He was the loving father of William F. Zola and his wife Jennifer of Boston; Peter E. Zola of San Francisco, CA; Joanne K. Zola and her wife Samantha Kahn of San Francisco, CA; and cherished grandfather of Caroline Zola, Abigail Zola and Scarlett Rae and August Zola-Kahn. He also leaves his sister, Geraldine White of Framingham and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 8, at 11:00AM at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 o'clock prior to the funeral service. Interment will be private at Mt. Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury.
