I am so happy to share my enthusiastic support for Silvia Nerssessian’s re-election to the Sudbury School Committee. While, I have always appreciated Silvia’s work and commitment on the committee, her dedication to our town has never been more apparent than during this pandemic.

Silvia is a dedicated leader of the Sudbury School Committee. She spends countless hours working for the betterment of the schools whether it be attending meetings, speaking with parents, working with the superintendent or negotiating with teachers. Silvia’s expertise has been invaluable to ensure the safety of our children while also driving for a robust education in these unprecedented circumstances.

The pandemic has not stopped Silvia’s work in advancing education in Sudbury. Not only did Silvia advocate to create a budget for next year that supports addressing the impacts of the pandemic on students, but also enhances the ability to challenge students including our advanced learning students all while being mindful of the pressure’s taxpayers. Through Silvia’s expertise in budgeting practices, she has continuously reassessed spending, and worked with her board and administration to provide sustainable budgets that support student growth and achievement.

Silvia has also worn many hats while serving Sudbury. She is liaison to the Sudbury Select Board, Finance Committee, and Lincoln Sudbury School Committee. Silvia has served on Sudbury’s Strategic Financial Planning Committee for Capital Funding, Budget Strategies Task Force, Town Manager’s Fairbank Task Force, and the Town Manager Search Committee. Her comprehensive understanding of Sudbury serves us well.

I have spoken to Silvia several times during the pandemic to discuss concerns and challenges and have always had an open, honest and knowledgeable conversation with Silvia. Silvia notes that she is a champion for all students and that they are at the forefront of each and every decision she makes. I believe this guiding principle has served our students, and community, well. Her expertise, knowledge and community relationships will be critical as we continue to navigate this pandemic and for any challenges that face our school system in the future.

Please visit Silvia’s comprehensive website www.silvia4sudbury.org to learn more about Silvia’s extensive experience, her accomplishments and her positions on critical matters to our schools.

I ask you to join me in voting for Silvia on March 29th! A vote for Silvia, is a vote for all students.
