Sobriety Checkpoint In Middlesex County This Weekend

The checkpoint takes place at an undisclosed location during varied hours this weekend.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA—The Massachusetts State Police holds a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County this weekend.

Colonel Kerry A. Gilpin, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, said that a checkpoint will be conducted by the MSP on a public way in Middlesex County on Saturday, Nov. 3, into Sunday, Nov. 4.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Gilpin in a statement.

It will be operated during varied hours and vehicles are not selected arbitrarily.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
