Sudbury Resident Opens Frozen Yogurt Shop in Wayland [VIDEO]

Orange Leaf opened its doors on Tuesday, March 5.

It might not have been an ideal day for a frozen treat — with snow swirling outside and temps in the 30s — but that didn't stop a steady stream of customers from going to Orange Leaf last Thursday afternoon.

The new frozen yogurt shop in Wayland Town Center opened on Tuesday, March 5, and owner Berkeley O'Keefe, a Sudbury resident, said a grand opening will likely be held in May, once it's warmer and the business is off to a good start.

"We want to make sure we get it right for people," O'Keefe said. "Hopefully by spring people will know where we are."

The idea for O'Keefe to open an Orange Leaf franchise came after his family traveled to Florida and kept going back to a location they found there.

Wayland Town Center seemed like an ideal spot to open an Orange Leaf franchise, and fit well with other businesses opening in the plaza, said O'Keefe.

"We're very pleased with what's going in, and the location is very central with Weston, Wayland and Sudbury," he said.

Current flavors include banana, cheesecake, chocolate, pomegranate, strawberry, brownie batter, cookies and cream, birthday cake, mango, snickerdoodle, key lime pie, coffee, vanilla, orange and peanut butter.

O'Keefe said some flavors will stay, while others will rotate. Seasonal flavors will also be introduced.

On Thursday, even with a snow storm outside, Orange Leaf drew a steady crowd in the late afternoon.

"The weather's not so great," O'Keefe said. "But in my household at least, they want yogurt year-round."
