Sudbury Student A 2021 National Merit Scholarship Winner
The student was among about 1,000 nationwide who received a corporate scholarship this week.
SUDBURY, MA — A Sudbury student is among 27 from across Massachusetts who won a national merit scholarship this week, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Ethan Jo, a homeschool student, received a scholarship from Raytheon. He plans to study engineering when he heads to college in the fall, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
About 1,000 students in the U.S. were awarded National Merit scholarships this week backed by corporations like Raytheon, Pfizer and 3M.

"Scholars were selected from students who advanced to the Finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met criteria of their scholarship sponsors," NMSC said in a news release. "Corporate sponsors provide National Merit Scholarships for Finalists who are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage."
The scholarships announced this week are worth between $1,000 and $10,000 per year.
