SUDBURY, MA — A bridge over Hop Brook along Dutton Road in Sudbury will close for almost the entire summer, affecting a major north-south route through town.

The Hop Brook bridge will be replaced between June 1 and Aug. 24. That means the road will be accessible to local traffic only between Pratts Mill Road and Moore Road just south of Hudson Road.

Drivers will begin to see detour signs and messages about the project in May. The detour will take drivers east along Pratts Mill Road, northeast along Peakham Road and back west toward Dutton Road along Hudson road, according to the public works department.

The project was initially approved by Town Meeting in 2018, but took several years to design. The town began accepting bids for the estimated $800,000 project this winter.
