Thanks To Sudbury From New School Committee Member: Letter
Newly elected School Committee member Tyler Steffey says he is "deeply humbled" following the March 30 election.

The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the views of Sudbury Patch.
Thank you to the Sudbury community for electing me to serve on the Sudbury School Committee. I am deeply humbled by your support. I am eager to begin this important work and I assure you that I will work tirelessly as a committee member to continuously improve our beloved Sudbury Public Schools.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who supported me during the election season. Whether you wrote a postcard, held a sign, hosted a zoom, or chatted with a neighbor on my behalf, all of these efforts culminated in my election. I am grateful to you for putting your faith in me. A special thank you to my campaign team without whom this election simply would not have happened. Thank you for your time, effort, and support. Lastly, and ever so deeply, a thank you to my wife and children. As the Ubuntu philosophy declares, “I am because we are” and I will never, ever lose sight of that.

A final reflection about running a four-month campaign in Sudbury. I came away from my first election season feeling a pride in our community and connection to my town. Respectful, courteous, inclusive, and supportive civic engagement on display! At every turn of this effort, I was met by neighbors willing to engage, listen, and share. To those who abstained from voting: I encourage you to consider casting a vote at next year’s town election. Democracy in Sudbury is alive and well and thrives when one exercises their right to vote.
In closing, I consider my election to the Sudbury School Committee an opportunity to serve Sudbury residents. Please do not ever hesitate to connect directly with me at tylersteffey@gmail.com or 617-875-1961. I plan to be accessible and responsive every step of the way.
