A Train Jumper and Youth in the Road

The following information came from the Swampscott Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, July 28

  • At 0:005 a.m., the MBTA reported that a drunken person jumped off the train as it was moving. Police checked the area.
  • At 00:14 a.m., a caller reported what she believed to be a single gunshot in the area of Clarke School.
  • At 00:23 a.m., a cabbie reported problems with a fare on Paradise Road.
  • At 2:13 a.m., a caller reported a loud group of youth on Stetson Avenue.
  • At 2:37 p.m., police received a report of a possibly rabid skunk in an Essex Street backyard. The animal control officer was called to the location.
  • At 2:46 p.m., police received a report of a motor vehicle being broken into on Essex Street.
Monday, July 29
  • At 6:58 a.m., police received a report of a hypodermic needle in the parking lot at CVS.
  • At 11:43 a.m., a lifeguard reported finding a used syringe at Eisman's Beach
Tuesday, July 30
  • At 1:21 a.m., a Franklin Avenue caller reported that someone had knocked on the home's front door but no one was there when they opened it.
  • At 6:39 a.m., a large tree limb fell on the sidewalk on Paradise Road near the school. DPW was notified and will pick it up.
  • At 10:41 a.m., police charged Jose Medina, 19, 204 Cypress Ave., Lawrence, MA with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The vehicle had no inspection sticker and a number plate violation.
  • At 3:08 p.m., youth were reportedly jumping off the pier. Police advised the youth.
  • At 4:30 p.m., police received a report of a female screaming inside a Burrill Street apartment.
  • At 4:45 p.m., police charged Courtney Brewster, 28, of 5 Read St., North Salem, on three default warrants for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and two counts of assault and battery.
  • At 9:49 p.m., a caller reported youth lying in the road on Burpee Road by Machon School.
