Big Blue Girls Nail Down Tournament Spot With Win
The Swampscott soccer team defeated Gloucester 5-0 Thursday at home.
The Big Blue girls soccer team controlled play and scored five goals in their 5-0 win Thursday over the Gloucester Fishermen.
It was their seventh victory of the season. The Swampscott midfielders dominated at Upper Jackson field, clamping down on Gloucester attacks and setting up their own offensive attacks.

Samantha Maher tallied the first followed by scores from Leah Dawley, Meghan Hartmann, Jaymie Caponigro and Megan Moracco.
Swampscott first-year coach Ken Leeder was pleased with the effort. He liked the way the team moved the ball.

They play Danvers Monday, Winthrop next Friday and their last game before the tournament is against Central Catholic.Â
