Eleanor Didio: Civil Servant, Lifetime Swampscott Resident
Funeral services were private, but donations in Didio's memory can be made to a charity of the giver's choice.

Eleanor Didio died peacefully on Wednesday, July 8 after spending a lifetime in Swampscott.
Born and raised in Swampscott, Didio graduated from Swampscott High School before attending Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine. She retired as the executive secretary from the newsroom of The Boston Globe.
Didio will be remembered for her extensive volunteer work around the area. She served as manager of the gift shop at the North Shore Children’s Hospital in Salem and volunteered at the Crombie Shelter also in Salem.

In Swampscott, she served on the Governing Board of the Swampscott Historical Society for the restoration of the Railroad Depot and volunteered as a committee member for the restoration of the Andrews Chapel in the Swampscott Cemetery, according to her obituary from Somaline Funeral Home.
She enjoyed traveling and embarked on many tours of Europe and Asia. She also greatly enjoyed time spend with her family and lifelong friends.

Services were private in respect of Didio’s wishes. Contributions can be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
