'Faraway Places': Swampscott Arts Association Group Show On View in Marblehead

Exhibition runs January 15 through February 28 with a public reception on Sunday, Jan. 17.

The Abbot Library in Marblehead is presenting an exhibit of work in a variety of media by the members of the Swampscott Arts Association.

The theme of the show is “Faraway Places” and is exemplified by the colorful painting, “Desert Springtime,” done by longtime artist, Mimi Andler. The show will begin on Friday, January 15, and end Sunday, February 28. The public is invited to an opening reception, on Sunday, January 17, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Swampscott Arts Association currently has more than 70 members, bringing together artists from several local communities including Lynn, Salem, Peabody and Nahant. More than half of the members are from Marblehead. Many of the artists are award-winners in such shows as the North Shore Arts Association, the Copley Society of Boston, and Marblehead Festival of Arts. They are all widely exhibited, and this exhibit will showcase the varied artistic endeavors of these artists.
