Swampscott Metal Recycling, Styrofoam Collection Saturday

Swampscott is offering a metal recycling and styrofoam drop-off day Saturday at the Department of Public Works.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott is offering several ways for residents to clean up their homes and their properties on and around Earth Day.

On Saturday, the town will hold a metal recycling and styrofoam drop-off day at the Department of Public Works yard. Items can be brought to the Paradise Road location from 8 a.m. to noon.

Most appliances, mechanical and household metal items are accepted. Items not accepted include electronics, monitors, propane tanks, paint cans and hazardous waste. A full list of items accepted and not accepted can be found here.

Swampscott is also beginning yard waste pickup next week.

Clothing and household textiles can be recycled through the town's curbside pickup partnership with Simple Recycling. Residents can request pink recycling bags here and place them out on their regular trash day.

The town also offers two free drop-off compost locations for organic waste by the dog park behind the cemetery next to the police station. Black Earth Compost runs the compost program.
