Interest in Consolidating Some Town and School Functions
Selectmen want the state to study consolidation of school and town business and other functions. The School Committee will talk about the idea Tuesday.

Selectman Matt Strauss says the time is right to look at creating a central business office.
To that end he and fellow selectmen want the Massachusetts Department of Revenue to study the consolidation of town and school functions including business, technology and maintenance duties to save the town money.
Selectman Strauss said on Wednesday that the creation of a central business office could result in large savings in the future.
Tuesday will be the School Committee's turn to talk about asking DOR to evaluate the consolidation idea.
The study request is on the committee's agenda.
Consolidating services is a complicated process said the Selectmen's chairman, Jill Sullivan, and that is why the town wants DOR's help evaluating it.
Ultimately, any consolidation of services would require approval from town meeting members.
