Local Resident Charged With OUI

The following information came from the Swampscott Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Sept. 28

  • 7:22 a.m., police received a report of a bicycle behind the half moon at Eisman's Beach.
  • 4:01 p.m., a Salem Street resident reported his motor vehicle was struck while it was parked in front of his home and the striking vehicle did not stop.
  • 8:22 p.m., a caller from Middlesex Avenue reported that a group of young people lit a backpack on fire near the Middlesex entrance to the Clarke School. The caller said she put out the fire and two teenagers, 13 to 16, ran towards Berkshire Street. Police checked the area for the youth.
  • 9:39 p.m., a loud party was reported on Cherry Street.
Sunday, Sept. 29
  • 3:56 a.m., an Arbutus Road caller reported a barking dog in the neighbor's yard. The caller said it was an ongoing problem. The dog was brought inside the house.
  • 4 a.m., a caller reported a man who appeared disoriented on Humphrey Street. The man had a bad reaction to medication and was taken to Salem Hospital.
  • 5:15 p.m., police charged Wendy Conaty, 53, of 68 Plymouth Ave., Swampscott, with OUI liquor, drinking alcohol from an open container in a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • 6:38 p.m., police received a report of a cell phone being stolen from a car by the library.
