The Board of Health meets 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall in the second-floor conference room. The board will be talking tobacco regulations with Joyce Redford of the North Shore Tobacco Coalition

The Board of Assessors meets Thursday, Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall in the first-floor conference room.Â
4. School Notes:Â
The first day of school is Aug. 28, for all but kindergarten students.
Kindergarteners will attend their first day — a real first day for many — on Sept. 4.
While school doors open for students in grades 1-12 on Aug. 28, the doors will be open for another day before they close again with the arrival of Labor Day Weekend.
School will be out Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.
The schools reopen Tuesday and remain open Wednesday before closing Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah.

School Opening Schedule
- The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 28.
- There is no school on Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.
- Schools have classes on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4
- Schools are closed on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6 in observance of Rosh Hashanah
5. Academic Notes:Â
The following Swampscott students were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester at Washington University in St. Louis:
Nathaniel James Hyman was named to the Dean's List. Hyman is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences.
Erich Daniel Yaeger was named to the Dean's List. Yaeger is enrolled in the university's School of Engineering and Applied Science.
To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.
