'Noose-Like' Rope Found In Swampscott's Linscott Park: Police
Swampscott police said they are investigating the origins of the rope found hanging from a tree Monday morning.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A rope found tied to a tree branch in a way that gave it a "noose-like appearance" was found in Linscott Park on Monday morning.
Swampscott police said they are investigating the origins of the rope tied with a loop at the bottom that made it resemble a noose. Police said the bottom of the loop is approximately 4 feet from the ground.
"The SPD is hoping that this was left behind and used for an alternate purpose other than what it appears to be," police said.

Some who commented on the police's social media post about the rope said they thought it resembled a foot swing for children or young adults.
Anyone with information about where this rope came from, and perhaps what its intended use was, is asked to contact SPD at 781-595-1111.
