North Shore Flooding: Flash Floods Submerge Cities
Two cities received nearly 16 inches of rainfall between them.

Two cities received nearly 16 inches of rain between them as relentless weekend downpours pounded the North Shore. No injuries were reported, though several streets and highways were closed during Sunday morning and early afternoon.
Lynn saw more than 8 inches of flooding and Peabody more than 7, according to reports. No other city or town east of I-495 had more than 3 inches. Hundreds in the North Shore were without power, with most of the outages in Lynn.
The flooding got so bad that it closed the Lynnfield Tunnel for more than two hours, backing up traffic on Route 1 and I-95. The Lynnway in Revere was also flooded out for some time, with more than 2 feet of water being reported.

Several local roads were closed across the North Shore. That didn't stop some people from getting around - even if they had to use inflatable mattresses to do so.
