Obituary: John G. Moran, Jr., 85, Tedesco Country Club Member for Nearly 50 Years
Mr. John G. Moran, Jr., 85, of Swampscott died on Sept. 18. He was President at Merrimack Magnetics until he retired.

Mr. John G. Moran, Jr., 85, husband of the late Marilyn Howard Moran, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sept. 18, 2014. John was born in Lynn in 1929, the son of the late John G. and Rose Ryder Moran.
He was a graduate of Swampscott High School. John continued his education at Boston University while working full time. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st lieutenant from 1952 to 1956. He worked as an engineer for Sylvania Electronics Co. and then served as President at Merrimack Magnetics in Lowell until his retirement. A member of Tedesco Country Club for 46 years, John could be found on the golf course. John was an avid baseball fan and followed the Boston Red Sox as well as the local high school teams.

In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth P. Moran. John is survived by his four children, Debbie Green and her husband Bob of Marblehead, Michael Moran and his wife Tina of Winchester, Janet Moran of Short Hills, N.J., and Kelly McNamee and her husband Peter of Newburyport. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, Brian, Emily, Hannah and Connor Green, Jenna, Ben and Carly Moran, Carri, Alex, and Max Dolce, Allyson and Lucas McNamee and one great grandson, William Green.
His funeral will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rte 1A) Lynn followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10 a.m. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
