Obituary: John 'Vibart' Henriques, 84, of Swampscott, Raised Two Younger Siblings

John "Vibart" Henriques, 84, of Swampscott was born in South America and raised his two younger siblings.

Mr. John “Vibart” Henriques, 84, of Swampscott, died Tuesday evening in the Bertram House after a prolonged illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie Henriques.

Born in Guyana, South America, he was the son of the late Leonard and Christina (Pistana) Henriques. In his youth, he was an outdoorsman. Following the passing of his parents at a young age, Vibart’s focus was on raising two of his younger siblings. He was particularly close to his sister Christina. After moving to the United States, he enjoyed the beach, gardening, being outside and always having a chocolate cake on his birthday. Above all, Vibart took great pride in his grandchildren and their activities.

He leaves his two daughters: Christina Geaney and her husband Kevin of Lynn and Tricia Rubenstein and her husband Richard of Westport, Conn. Vibart was the loving grandfather to Molly, Shelby and Liam Fynn Geaney and Sabrina, Desmond and Phoebe Rubenstein.

Vibart’s funeral was held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 10 a.m. AM. Memorial visitation was on Monday at 8:30 a.m. Interment was at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
