OUI Demonstration Held At Swampscott HS
The presentation showed the potential dangers of driving under the influence.
A mock OUI presentation on Monday gave Swampscott and Lynnfield High School students an eye-opening experience to the potential dark consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
While the OUI demonstration in the Swampscott High School parking lot was entirely staged, painstaking efforts were taken by the local Police Dept., Fire Dept., Dept. of Public Works, the Atlantic/Cataldo Ambulance Service, G.J. Towing, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), the high school TV and media dept., local volunteers, and Solimine Funeral Home in Lynn to make it look and seem as real as possible.
The demonstration even had a make-up artist available to make the injuries to the victims appear more realistic. The Swampscott Fire Dept. used the Jaws of Life to remove trapped passengers from a mangled vehicle. There was also a mock fatality, in which the would-be corpse was then carted off in a hearse courtesy of Solimine Funeral Home.
