Party like it's 1999 in Marblehead this weekend
The Johnny Ray Band returns to Marblehead this Saturday night

There may not be a descending countdown from 10 at 11:59.50 this Saturday night, but you can bet the people will be partying like it’s 1999 at Wick’s in Marblehead. Let’s face it, having New Year’s Eve on a Monday night is a little weird right? The entertainment and hospitality industry have been scratching their heads for years about how to deal with this dilemma. That’s why the entertainment complex at Warwick Place in Marblehead is bringing in the big guns and featuring local favorite, THE JOHNNY RAY BAND at Wick’s this Saturday night. After nearly a decade of owning the residency on Horizons Edge Casino Cruise Lines out of Lynn harbor, and being the darling of the country club circuit on Boston’s north shore, Johnny Ray hitched his wagon to the gaming industry and wound up in Las Vegas performing and producing shows on the strip at such venues as, The Monte Carlo, Drai’s Nightclub, and The Sahara (Now SLS Las Vegas). The Patch spoke with Johnny this week who says he still keeps his fingers in the “Las Vegas pie” but really enjoys traveling through the South West in general because the “Native American Indian Casinos are providing the best quality work for professional entertainers right now.” And according to Johnny the work is plentiful. “Most of what you see are tribute acts or legends shows. Then you have the authentic “niche” acts that perform in the lounges, like I do. After that it’s the national headliners which are usually well-known bands who charted hits in the classic rock and R&B era. One thing is for sure, It’s all very good entertainment!” Johnny will be hitting the road after the Wick’s show for some performances in Arizona including the Hondah Resort Casino on the Apache Indian Reservation in Pine Top. There is no cover at the door this Saturday night at Wick’s and the show starts around 8PM. Reservations are recommended by calling: (781) 476-2076
