Police Investigating Assault on 16-Year-Old

Swampscott detectives are investigating a reported assault and attempted abduction on Norfolk Avenue.

A 16-year-old girl told police she was walking home near Stetson Avenue on Wednesday night about 8 when a car pulled up to her and the driver told her to come with him and that he knew where she lived, police said.

The girl told the driver she wanted nothing to do with him and continued walking, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.
 
"The male party then grabbed the suspect and attempted to pull the victim into the car," the detective said. "The victim alleges she fought with the suspect who ripped her shirt in the struggle." 

The victim was able to get away and ran to her nearby home, police said. The victim said the vehicle followed her down Stetson Avenue, then fled onto Essex Street towards Salem. The victim notified her family when she got home, police said. The victim was unhurt.

The 16-year-old described the suspect as a Mexican male in his 30s of medium build with a thin outlined beard, and a slight patch of hair on his chin, and wearing an orange-striped shirt with tan cargo shorts.

He was was driving a dirty, white, older, Honda Civic.

The victim said two other male parties in the back seat of the car.
