Police Offering Treats to Kids Spotted Wearing Helmets

In partnership with HOOD this summer, Swampscott police will reward kids for practicing safe riding habits.

SWAMPSCOTT – Kids who wear helmets this summer could be in for a tasty treat, courtesy of the Swampscott Police Department and HOOD.

On Tuesday, SPD announced that kids who are spotted practicing bike safety will have the opportunity to swing by the police station and pick up a HOOD snack.

"Officers will hand out cards to kids they see wearing a helmet while riding on bikes, scooters, skateboards and/or other things that require a helmet under Bicycle Helmet Safety Law for Minors," police said. Kids who receive a card will be able to swap it for a HOOD product at the police station.
