Proposed Swampscott Pot Shop Facing Opposition From Neighbors
Swampscott residents said they are concerned about increased parking and traffic that may come if the cannabis store is approved.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Residents told the couple behind a proposal to open a recreational cannabis store in Swampscott that they are concerned about increased traffic and parking problems if the store opens in Vinnin Square. Terpene Journey LLC, which is owned by Swampscott residents Tom Bogacz and Justin Eppley, held a 90-minute forum earlier this month to gather feedback from neighbors of the proposed store at 430 Paradise Road. While two residents at the meeting voiced concerns about the nature of the business, most of the concerns centered on increased traffic in an already-busy part of Swampscott.
According to Salem Digest, which first reported this story, Terpene Journey presented a traffic study that showed the store would add 36 car trips to the neighborhood at its busiest time. The company also noted that the Swampscott police department had already signed off on the safety protocols they had proposed. The company plans to host additional outreach meetings in the future.
