Swampscott Goes Back to School — in One Month

School will start with an open and closed pattern before moving to a more regular pattern.

Back to school already?

No, there's another good month of summer. Almost a month.

The first day of school is Aug. 28, for all but kindergarten students.

Kindergarteners will attend their first day — a real first day for many — on Sept. 4.

While school doors open for students in grades 1-12 on Aug. 28, the doors will be open for another day before they close again with the arrival of Labor Day Weekend.

School will be out Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.

The schools reopen Tuesday and remain open Wednesday before closing Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah.

Below is a rundown of the start schedule. Attached to this article is a school year calendar.

School Opening Schedule

  • There is no school on Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.
