Until further notice, all local and area school field trips are canceled, school officials announced Wednesday.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA—All local and area school field trips have canceled until further notice, school officials announced Wednesday. They say they will reassess this decision following April break.
Due to the current state of emergency in Massachusetts, school officials said that the following events have been cancelled or postponed:
- SHS Science Fair – postponed
- SHS participation in the National DECA Competition – cancelled
- 1st Robotics competition – cancelled
"We will keep you posted of other changes as they arise," school officials said.

School officials said they are also beginning to proactively implement social distancing measures, which is the reason the mandatory spring athletics meeting has been canceled.
"We want to continue to encourage everyone in the community to continue to use good judgment," school officials said in a statement to staff and parents. "Our fear is that a mandatory meeting would cause folks who might not be feeling well to attend such a meeting for their student."
