These Marblehead students are among those earning academic or athletic distinction this fall and winter.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The University of Chicago track and field program recently showcased Swampscott athlete Ella Parker on their Instagram account.

A double major in art history and economics, the program said the second-degree black belt hopes to build off the progress she made last winter and have her best season as a senior. The program added that she is pulling for a Senior Day because "she thinks it would mean a lot for her parents to see her jump one more time in person."

When asked what advice she would give to younger teammates, she said: "Take care of your teammates. Track meets are semi-disorganized, high-stress situations that go on for hours and hours.

"Standing on someone's blocks, counting their steps, getting them water, grabbing a coach or lending them your uniform (in a worst-case scenario) can make such a big difference in getting a gratifying team win at the end of the day."
