Teen Poetry Contest Returns to Swampscott Library

The deadline to submit poems is Feb. 25, 2016.

The Swampscott Public Library has announced the 12th Annual Lee Golomb Cadiff Teen Poetry Contest.

The contest awards cash prizes to the finalists, and this year’s prize money will range from $40-$150.

Fifth through 12th-grade students who live in Swampscott or attend school in Swampscott are invited to submit an original poem, 40-line limit, by Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016.

This year, special prizes for best music poem and best humorous poem will be awarded.

To enter, fill out the entry form, available at the library, local schools and online, and attach two copies of your poem, one with your name on it and one without your name, to the form. Drop it off or mail to the Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill Street, Swampscott, MA 01907. You can also email your poem with the information listed on the entry form to moltz@noblenet.org.

Call the library at 781-596-8867 for further information. Winners will be notified by March 31, 2016. The awards ceremony will be held in April at the Swampscott Public Library during National Poetry Month.

The Teen Poetry Contest is possible through the assistance of Mrs. Norma Cadiff Finn, the Swampscott Middle School and Swampscott High School, and the Tin Box Poets.
