Two Swampscott Young Men Die After Crash

Two young men from Swampscott have died after the vehicle they were in crashed into a house in Revere on Friday morning.

The 19-year-old driver underwent surgery but died Friday night, WHDH Channel 7 reported late Friday night.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley's office reported earlier Friday that the driver had been transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The District Attorney's office also reported earlier Friday that the 20-year-old passenger was transported to Whidden Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Authorities have not identified the young men.

The District Attorney's office has a policy of not releasing the names of individuals unless criminal charges are brought forth, office spokesman Jake Wark said on Friday afternoon.

Revere Police were called to the home at 1936 North Shore Road shortly after 7 a.m. Friday when the residential alarm activated, the DA's office stated. Police found a Subaru Impreza had struck the home, causing serious injuries to the occupants and major damage to the vehicle. No one inside the home was injured.

Channel 7 reported a neighbor as saying that it was not the first time that home had been struck.  

The Boston news station interviewed a Revere police lieutenant at the scene.

“It looks like the car may have lost control up the roadway, slid on to sidewalk and into the house at a high rate of speed,” Revere Police Det. Robert Impemba told the news station.

State Police assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office and Revere Police detectives were investigating the crash.

The Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, which has jurisdiction over death investigations in Revere, responded to the scene, as did troopers from the Revere barracks, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and other specialized units.
