Dear Friends of My Brother’s Table-
We are reaching out to you with an urgent message about the Table’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is our hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and remain so, and that you have a moment to read this letter.
First, we would like to reassure everyone that the Table will continue to serve meals every day to anyone who needs our help. As you know, we are the only source of food for many of our guests, so we will need to continue to serve meals. We will be changing some of the ways we do that, but rest assured that we will not let our community go hungry during this time of crisis. Our plan is to provide meals on-site for those guests who have nowhere to go to eat, but we will offer to-go meals for all other guests. Additionally, all common items, like reusable plates, cups, salt & pepper shakers, etc., will be replaced by single-use items to reduce the number of people handling each item. Also, our free medical clinic, staffed by Lynn Community Health Center providers, will be open during several meals each week to treat any guests who are unwell.

Secondly, as a licensed restaurant, we follow all safe food handling practices which include: constant sanitation of surfaces, hand sanitizing stations, use of aprons, hats and gloves, and a prohibition against sick staff from entering the workplace. If you are a volunteer, please know that if you are well, we still desperately need your help!
Third, we will be postponing our last fundraiser of our fiscal year, the Founders’ Celebration, slated for March 18th but to be held now on October 14th. This is difficult for us to do, as we rely on the money raised by that event to help us close out our fiscal year. As eager as we are to balance our books, we want to do as much as we possibly can to keep our community healthy.

The loss of income, coupled with the increased expenses of changing our operations in response to the pandemic, has put an incredible strain on our finances. We are reaching out to you, our supporters, to ask if you can help us during this challenging time. If you are able, please consider making a donation via our website, or by mail.
As our guests rely on us for their meals, we rely on you, our supporters to help us continue to feed our community safely and with as much compassion as possible. We are grateful for any help you can give us.
