Virginia L. ''Ginnie'' (Nickerson) Eaton: 40-Year Swampscott Resident

She volunteered with the Swampscott Visiting Nurse Association and served as a longtime Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack 55, Swampscott.

Mrs. Virginia L. Ginnie (Nickerson) Eaton, age 94, of Peabody, formerly of Beverly and Swampscott, died on Friday March 20, 2015, at the Aviv Centers for Living, Peabody.

She was the wife of Wesley Harwood Eaton, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Bertram E. and Clara L. (Sweet) Nickerson. A graduate of Lynn English High School, and the Chandler Secretarial School, Boston. She had lived in Swampscott for over 40 years before moving to Beverly in 1987 and to Peabody in 2006.

Ginnie worked as a secretary for the GE Company, and then in the Swampscott School System, at the Clarke Elementary School.

A member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn in Swampscott, she loved sewing and quilting. She volunteered with the Swampscott Community Service and Swampscott Visiting Nurse Association. She was also a longtime Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack 55, Swampscott.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons; David W. Eaton and his wife Arlys, of Scottsdale, AZ, Richard A. Eaton and his wife Rosemary, of Wilmington, and Roger B. Eaton and his wife Carol, of Peabody, eight grandchildren; Christopher D. Eaton and his wife Susan, Sandra E. Burwell and her husband Jake, Bethany M. Wells and her husband Todd, Tina M. Eaton, Jonathan R. Eaton, Nicholas A. Eaton and his wife Christina, Melissa J. Graham and her husband John, and Jessica D. Gleason and her husband Ronald, and ten great grandchildren; Kaitlin Eaton, Jenna Marie, Amber, and Nathan Burwell, Brandon, Preston, and Spencer Wells, Chase Clippard, Lillian Graham, and Arya Gleason. She was also the sister of the late Audrey L. (Nickerson) Thomas and Bertram M. Nickerson.

Her funeral will be held on Friday [March 27] at 1 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn (101 (Forest Ave., Swampscott), followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Visiting hours will be held in the Solimine Funeral Home (426 Broadway (RTE129), Lynn) on Thursday from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate a donation in her name to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. 7th FL New York, NY 10001.
