Five noteworthy things about today in Swampscott.

Today, Aug. 23, is Locker Day at the Middle School.
It's for Grade 5 students only from 9:30 until 2:30pm.Â
Principal Murphy says Locker Day gives the 5th graders a chance to come find their locker and get use to using it. It helps with the transition from elementary to middle school.

Molly Heller was a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Heller is a member of the Class of 2014 and studies Biology.

Trustees of the Swampscott Public Library meet on Tuesday at the library. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the Baldwin Room.
