Welcome to Locker Day Fifth Graders

Five noteworthy things about today in Swampscott.

1. School Notes: 

Today, Aug. 23, is Locker Day at the Middle School.
It's for Grade 5 students only from 9:30 until 2:30pm. 
Principal Murphy says Locker Day gives the 5th graders a chance to come find their locker and get use to using it. It helps with the transition from elementary to middle school.
 
2. Weather Watch: 

Friday's forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high temperature of 77.

3. Academic Notes:

Molly Heller was a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Heller is a member of the Class of 2014 and studies Biology.

To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Heller is a graduate of Swampscott High School, and lives in Swampscott,

 Marblehead Little Theatre Presents The Tempest - Aug. 16 - Aug. 25 

Tickets are now on sale for Marblehead Little Theatre’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, running August 16-25th.

5. Town Notes:
Trustees of the Swampscott Public Library meet on Tuesday at the library. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the Baldwin Room.
