Swampscott Moves Trick With Storm In Forecast

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott police and school officials are moving recommended trick-or-treating hours in town to Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Forecasts of rain and winds prompted the move.

Public safety officials offer the following tips for safe trick or treating this Halloween season:

  • Only go to houses where you or your friends know the residents
  • Don't knock on doors where there is a sign saying 'NO callers' or there are no outside lights on
  • Stay in areas that are lit with streetlights - take a flashlight with you just in case
  • Stay with your friends - don't split into smaller groups unless an adult goes with you
  • Do not talk to strangers on the street
  • Don't enter any house, stay on the doorstep
  • Be visible
