Wrestler Places at Pentucket High School Holiday Tournament

Stephen Hopkins, a freshman at Swampscott High School and member of the Marblehead-Swampscott Co-op wrestling team, placed 4th in the Pentucket Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 27, at Pentucket Regional High School.

With 20 schools attending and 16 wrestlers in his 106 lb. weight class, Hopkins started the daywith a 7-0 decision over his opponent from Whitter Tech.  In his second match, Hopkins pinned his Pentucket opponent in the second period. 

 Hopkins, a second year varsity wrestler, then lost to Brad Soucy from Lexington (eventual weight class winner) in his third match which sent the Freshman to the consolation bracket where Hopkins went 1-1 to earn a fourth place finish. 
In the consolations, Hopkins took a 7-1 decision over a tough opponent from Tri Country (NH) which sent him to the consolation finals.  

At the Pentucket Super Quad on Dec. 31, Hopkins managed a 3-1 performance, which included 3 pins, to improve to 8-6 on the season.
