23% Of Tewksbury Residents Have Gotten At Least 1 Vaccine Dose
The state's plan to prioritize the most vulnerable residents is showing in Tewksbury, where seniors have received the most vaccinations.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Twenty-three percent of the town's nearly 31,000 residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday.
The statewide figure is also 22 percent.
The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Tewksbury, where those 65 or older have received the majority of vaccinations. Seventy-four percent of those 75 or older have received at least one dose and 38 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Forty-eight percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 14 percent are fully vaccinated.
Overall, 7,243 of 30,826 residents in Tewksbury have received at least one dose and 3,692 are fully vaccinated — 12 percent of the population.

The data also includes vaccination rates by race, ethnicity and sex for each city and town, as well as by zip code.
In Tewksbury, Black residents have been vaccinated at the highest rate: 33 percent of Black residents. Just 7 percent of Hispanic residents have been fully vaccinated; 17 percent of multi-racial residents, 11 percent of white residents and 8 percent of Asian residents have.

The Department of Public Health also released town-by-town coronavirus metrics, which showed continued improvement in Tewksbury. The positive test rate fell to 1.5 percent.
