Back to Basics - 2020
"Now" is a great season to review the basics (of remote learning).

Transitioning from the hectic (yet full of so many wonderful memories) routines of "Summer 2020" to the structure of the Fall “Back to School” Season is exciting and has everyone full of enthusiasm. Keep those dreams alive! Remember, the greatest achievement was once a dream! Be the #Upstander and #BeTheChange. Remote learning will have its challenges, indeed; but those challenges can be overcome. We have been teaching students online, successfully, since March. Once the students adjusted their settings on their devices (chrome book/lap top/computer/iPad/iPhone) properly (and made sure no one else in the house was streaming a movie/online video game, Zoom/Google meeting, business video meeting, etc.) while they were learning online, that online experience has been very successful, as it is like we are all in the same room. Here is one important key to the basics of remote learning. If you cannot get excellent reception on your iPhone in the room where you are setting your child’s desk/device up for school, your child will have bad video/audio reception and a bad ‘online/remote’ experience (video and audio will freeze often). From someone who has been teaching online for the last 6+ months, the best advice I can give to you is for all to be patient and open minded regarding the process of remote learning/teaching. It is a whole new world. Working through the impossible to the possible has been worth it though. Here’s to a great start to a new school year! -Shihan Deb :)
