Chelmsford Man Injured After Allegedly Shoplifting, Jumping Wal-Mart Fence

Wednesday, July 9

  • At 5:59 p.m. Loss Prevention at Wal-Mart reported that a man used a knife to cut open a cell phone case. He then took the phone from the packaging. Officers were sent to the area looking for a white male in a gray t-shirt with orange and black shorts. An ambulance was requested for the suspect, who may have sprained his ankle after jumping a fence. The man was transported to Saints Medical Center while under arrest. Kevin M. Chappie, 34, of 148 Gorham Street, Chelmsford, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by concealing.
  • At 8:19 p.m. a woman from South Street reported that kids have been breaking into her pool area.
  • At 9:05 p.m. a caller on Prospect Hill Drive reported an intoxicated woman in the area. A Tewksbury woman was taken into protective custody.

  • At 11:09 p.m. a caller reported he was involved in a crash near Jade East and the other operator appeared to be intoxicated. Police responded to the scene and arrested Kim S.P. Kang, 34, of 40 Cinnamon Circle, Tewksbury, for operating under the influence of drugs, second offense.
