Did Tuesday Pipeline Meeting Change Your Opinion on Possible Project?

Several dozen residents attended a Tuesday night meeting on the project.

Tewksbury residents have expressed concerns over recent months over a proposal to install a gas pipeline through about 60 homes in town. On Tuesday night representatives of the company making the proposal throughout the east coast were on hand to answer questions at the Tewksbury Senior Center.

Kinder Morgan is proposing a natural gas pipeline that would run up the east coast, including about 1.3 miles of land in Tewksbury. Towns in Massachusetts have expressed concerns about the plans, and in some cases have begun forming coalitions to stop the project from happening.

The Lowell Sun reported that during Tuesday's meeting in Tewksbury, several dozen residents delved into the topic. Among the questions asked were how much homeowners would be compensated for participating, and what the safety regulations would be enforced.

Kinder Morgan's representative at the Tewksbury Senior Center meeting said the company has not yet determined compensations, and added that they would follow "stringent regulations," according to the Lowell Sun report.
