Ernest Brekalis, 83, of Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY, MA - Ernest Brekalis, age 83, died peacefully at his Tewksbury home, Thursday morning, May 26, in the loving care of his family and hospice, after a six month period of declining health. He was the beloved husband for 41 years of Vasilea “Bessie” (Tsakirgis) Brekalis, who died in June 2012.

He was born in Lynn, in October 1932, one of three children of the late Peter and Ploheria (Karahagis) Brekalis. He was raised in Lynn, and upon his marriage moved to Arlington. He retired to New Port Richey, FL, but returned to Tewksbury two years ago. While living in Arlington, he was a communicant of Saint Athanasius Greek Orthodox Church in Arlington.
Ernie worked in the data processing department of Polaroid Company until his retirement.

He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Peter C. and Karen (McLellan) Brekalis of Tewksbury, with whom he resided; three beloved grandchildren, Kristin anmd Kimberly both of Tewksbury, and Pfc. Peter C. Brekalis, U.S. Army, serving at Fort Drum, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Gikas and Irene Trovage.

Relatives and friends will be received Saturday morning from 9-10 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey St. and 975 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury Center. His Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery.
