Evelyn Louise Akeley, 95, of Tewksbury

For more than 20 years Evelyn worked in the maps and surveys department for the Middlesex County Registry of Deeds in East Cambridge.

TEWKSBURY, MA - Evelyn Louise (Hunt) Akeley, age 95, died peacefully on Thursday morning, April 7, at Northwood Rehabilitation Center in Lowell, after a long period of declining health. She was wife of the late Carroll Ray Akeley.

Evelyn was born in Everett in October 1920, a daughter of the late Harold and Ida (Jenkins) Hunt, and raised in Everett and Watertown. She graduated from Watertown High School with the Class of 1938, and went on to graduate from the School of Practical Arts on Beacon Street in Boston.

She retired after more than twenty years of service in the maps and surveys department for the Middlesex County, Registry of Deeds in East Cambridge.

When in better health, Mrs. Akeley was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness, Kingdom Hall in Wilmington.

She leaves many friends in her church community, and was the dearest friend of Ronald R. Leger, of Billerica, who assisted her throughout her later years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be offered on Monday morning, April 11, at 10 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey St. and 975 Main St. (Rte. 38) in Tewksbury Center. Her burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions to the Northwood Rehabilitation Center, Patient Activities Fund, 1010 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854 will be appreciated.
