Letter to the Editor: In Support of Stephen Deackoff for Planning Board

Tewksbury's Annual Town Election is Saturday, April 2.

To the registered voters of Tewksbury:

As a 30-year resident of Tewksbury involved in many issues and campaigns, I believe the most difficult as well as important board to serve on has to be our Planning Board. It is a position that involves learning and applying our Town bylaws in a fair-minded and knowledgeable manner and requires diligence, hard work and sometimes a delicate balance in order to achieve this. It is no easy task and should not be taken lightly requiring a 5 year commitment shaping the future of our community.

With that in mind I am writing in support of Steve Deackoff for the open seat on the Planning Board at the town election in April. Steve Deackoff has been involved in town over many years and currently serves on our Conservation Commission. An appointed position he has admirably held for several years, which often works in conjunction with Planning so he is already familiar with the inner workings of the boards. Steve is also the appointed Conservation Commission Representative on the Community Preservation Committee and a member of the Local Housing Partnership to name two.

Tewksbury is fortunate that he has decided to run for an elected board to serve and lend his expertise to yet another challenge. Steve can look at both sides of an issue fairly, not being 'just another rubber stamp.' He is consistently well researched and has always done a very thorough job in his position on theConservation Commission so I have no doubt he will bring that same level of commitment to the Planning Board. I would respectfully ask that you join me in voting for Stephen Deackoff on Saturday, April 2. He's simply the best man for the job. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Karyn Sliva
