Lowell General To Close Cross River Center Mass Vaccination Site

The hospital's vaccination program will shift into normal operations, due to falling demand.

LOWELL, MA — Lowell General Hospital is shutting down its mass vaccination site and shifting its vaccination program to normal hospital operations, the hospital said.

The shift reflects falling demand in Greater Lowell, the hospital said.

June 15 will be the last day of operations at the Cross River Center; the following Tuesday, vaccinations will begin at the hospital's Saints Campus.

Anyone who gets their first does at the mass vaccination site between June 1 and June 15 will get their second dose at the Saints Campus.

“The efforts of our staff and a small army of volunteers to vaccinate our community is nothing short of heroic, and we are so grateful for their commitment and teamwork over the past six months,” said Lowell General President Jody White in a statement. “Our community can feel confident that the program is being shifted to our immunization experts, many of whom have played key roles in the MVP program already.”
