Lowell General Opening Mass Vaccination Site Monday

LOWELL, MA — Lowell General is opening a mass vaccination site at the Cross River Center Monday, the hospital said Friday.

The hospital has already provided more than 10,000 shots at its main campus but will be moving its vaccination operation to the site at 1001 Pawtucket Blvd, according to a news release. East in order to expand the operation, the hospital said.

The site will vaccinate people 75 and older as well as those in Phase 1 of the state plan.

Scheduling is initially being handled through Circle Health providers and will not be open to the general public. But the hospital will provide updates on public scheduling as soon as it is available.

The site will vaccinate around 400 people per day at first and will scale up to 1,000 per day in coming weeks, the hospital said.

“The most important thing we can do right now protect our community and take pressure off of our healthcare system is to get people vaccinated,” Lowell General CEO Jody White said. “These vaccines are safe and effective, and our hospital and partner physicians in Circle Health are committed to getting shots in arms as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

The commercial real estate agency Farley White Interests provided the vaccination site, the hospital said. Patients will be asked to enter through the east side of the building.
