Man Arrested, Facing Heroin Distribution and Possession Charges

Arrest followed traffic stop and K9 search of vehicle on Rte. 495.

TEWKSBURY, MA - A Lawrence man faces several charges after being arrested by Tewksbury Police this week on drug charges.

On Sunday, April 24, the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Gilbert Rosario-Tejeda, 22, of 24 Immon St., Lawrence for possession with intent to distribute heroin (class a substance), unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to signal.

Officials say detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 495 North just past Exit 38 (Main Street) and identified Rosario-Tejeda as the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle. During the motor vehicle stop, Detectives requested assistance from the Tewksbury Police K-9 Unit and they were able to locate a hidden drug compartment inside the vehicle that concealed approximately 14 grams of heroin.

Rosario-Tejeda was arraigned on April 25 in Lowell District Court.
