Man Wanted for Impersonating Police Officer

State Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney are asking for the public's help in finding the man wanted in Tewksbury incident.

TEWKSBURY, MA - Officials are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in connection with an alleged incident of impersonating a police officer in Tewksbury.

Officials have described the suspect as a dark skinned Hispanic or Dominican male with no accent, approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall, with a thin face, sunken eyes, weighing 130-140 pounds. He's said to be clean shaven, have short tight hair and wearing stud earrings in each ear. The victim said he was wearing a black short sleeve shirt and jeans and had a gold star shaped badge hung around his neck and a silver large face watch on his left wrist.

District Attorney Marian Ryan says the suspect is wanted in connection with an incident reported to investigators this month, that occurred in Tewksbury on or about December 2015 or early January 2016, on a Wednesday, in the morning, prior to noon.

During the incident, an identified female stated she was traveling Rte. 495 North prior to Rte. 38 when she was stopped by an older model Chevy Impala (2000-2005) which she believed was an unmarked police cruiser.

The victim described the vehicle as a black Chevy Impala with dark tinted windows, round tail lights and a spot light. She believed the vehicle was bearing a dealer plate or repair plate. The stop was initiated by the suspect utilizing the spot light to pull her over. The suspect allegedly approached the vehicle and requested the victim’s license and registration. When the suspect returned to the vehicle he is said to have assaulted her by inappropriate touching. The victim was able to drive away.

Officials are asking anyone who has encountered similar incidents or has any information to contact the State Police Andover Barracks at (978) 475-3800 or Middlesex State Police Detectives at (781) 897-6621.

Officials say If drivers have questions about the identity of an officer they should call 911 on their cell phone if they can do so safely, to immediately contact police. They should be prepared to give their location and vehicle description. They also should drive to the nearest police station or fire station if they know where that is.
