Police Searching for Man Accused of Robbing Liquor Store With Steak Knife

The incident occurred Monday night as the man demanded a store clerk at Main Street Liquors to empty the cash register.

Tewksbury Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a liquor store on Monday while wielding a steak knife.

Police Chief Timothy Sheehan said on Wednesday afternoon in a press release that on Monday at about 9:20 p.m. officers responded to Main Street Liquors, located at 391 Main Street.

The store clerk said that a man had entered the store wearing a black ski mask and saying that he had a gun. The man allegedly ordered the clerk to empty the cash register.

During the incident, the clerk observed that the man was holding a large steak knife, according to police. The suspect fled the area with an undetermined amount of cash.

Officers described the man as heavy set, light skinned and in his twenties. The man was about six feet tall with hazel eyes, wearing a red sweatshirt with white lettering on the left breast, and he was wearing black sweatpants with white stripes down the sides.

In addition, police said the man appeared to be wearing blue gloves with white writing on the top.

After the alleged robbery, police set up a perimeter on Monday night and searched the area with a K-9 unit. Police could not locate the suspect.
