Roadwork Will Close Shawsheen Street In Tewksbury For 4-6 Weeks

The town expect "significant delays", as the road will be closed all day, every day while flood proofing work is performed.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Officials expect Shawsheen Street between Main Street and Diane Drive for four to six weeks beginning July 9 as the town conducts flood proofing work. The road will not be open at any point during the construction process. A detour using Foster Road, Chandler Street, and Main Street will divert traffic around the closed stretch of Shawsheen Street.

"Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid this area if possible and to seek alternate routes of travel where available as significant delays are anticipated as a result of this roadway closure," the town said in a notice posted Thursday.

More information about the project is available online or by contacting Andrew Stack, Project Manager at (978) 640-4440 x256 or astack@tewksbury-ma.gov.
